Hi friends! I’m finally getting around to sharing my bridal shower photos with you from October! Right off the bat I knew I wanted a pink and gold themed shower, which shouldn’t come as a surprise if you’ve been following me for a while! My bridal shower was not at all what I had expected, however due to COVID-19, everyone joined the party virtually with the exception of my mom and grandma. My maid of honor did surprise me halfway through and brought cookies, a sash and veil! She’s truly the best. Even though I wanted to have a brunch shower somewhere at a venue or restaurant, I did the best I could with the circumstances.
YES! You read the right, I did plan my own shower and that was totally my choice. I LOVE event planning and parties so coming up with ideas for my own bridal shower was SO much fun. Most of my decor inspiration came from Pinterest.
I setup our entryway table as the main table for cards, gifts and flowers. Right above it, I hung up the balloons which looked super cute! Next to it I made my own bridal chair where I sat throughout the virtual zoom call!
I moved our dining table into the living room (at the time we didn’t have a couch yet) so we could all eat together and open gifts. I used pink napkins, gold chargers, pink plates and gold flatware. I also found the most beautiful Anthropologie dupe glassware at Hobby Lobby to complete the table setting.
We decided to make things simple and order sandwiches and milkshakes from Potbelly! Matt was so sweet and picked them up while the girls had fun. I totally thought I would be having charcuterie boards, sushi or something more extravagant, but since it was just a few of us – sandwiches were great!
I am so thankful for all the sweet gifts I received at the bridal shower! My bridesmaids sent me a gorgeous bouquet of flowers early in the day which was so sweet of them! One of my favorite gifts was this book called the Newlywed Table, which is a pink and gold (very on theme) cookbook with recipes for two to start your life together. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a shower gift for someone you know.
I was also so excited to get these charming pink goblets from my mom. Some of the other gifts included the Kitchen Aid hand mixer in color Guava, bamboo salt and pepper grinders, stainless steel cake pans, fiestaware plates, charcuterie board and wine carafes! Everything is linked below if you’re curious!
My mom also surprised me with this calico porcelain wedding doll. I know some people might think it’s creepy, but since I was a little girl I LOVED anything with cats and I used to have all kinds of cat dolls along with my stuffed animals. She saved this for me for my wedding day and it plays music!
We had such a fun time! We played games virtually such as “How Well Do you Know the Bride?”, “What’s in my Purse?”, “Charades” and “Wedding Word Scramble”. Would it have been much better in person? Of course. I was super bummed about it for a while, but we still had fun and I know that we’ll plan a girls trip when it is safe to travel again.
