5 Simple Ways to Make Money as a Blogger

So you want to make money blogging? I totally feel you! Who doesn’t like a little extra cash in their pocket? Whether it’s for your next beach vacay or for some new clothes, making money as a blogger is totally doable. Here are six simple ways to get yourself out of the red and into the green.

Sell Ads on Your Site

Placing ads on your blog is an easy way to monetize your website. It’s also a great option if you don’t have the time or energy to create your own products.

You can use services such as Google AdSense, Mediavine, and AdThrive, Azoic or SheMedia to help you get started with placing ads on your site.

Google AdSense is a great way to start as a beginner and work your way up as you start hitting 25-50k monthly session thresholds. Too many ads can make it feel cluttered and make readers run away! Nobody wants that!

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a great way to earn money while promoting products that you already love and use! All you have to do is include affiliate links in your blog posts and when someone clicks on them and makes a purchase, you will receive commission on that purchase.

My favorite way to do this is through RewardStyle using the Shop The Post widget. It adds carousels to posts as well as an option for the Boutique widget which forms a collage of all the products in your post. If you’re new to blogging or influencing, you do have to apply to RewardStyle, so keep posting girl and you can do it!

There are other affiliate sites such as ShareaSale to help you that are more product specific. You can embed banner ads and add links directly.

Make sure to always use keywords to help you drive traffic as well.

Whatever you can do to drive traffic to your blog, the better.

Sell Digital Products

Selling digital products such as ebooks, courses, memberships and more is another GREAT way to start generating income from your blog.

Creating digital products can be time consuming at first but once they are created, they are relatively low maintenance and can generate passive income over time with minimal effort from you.

A few examples include making e-books in your niche that you think your audience would benefit most from, selling Pinterest Pin templates, Canva templates or offer DIY guides. Whatever your NICHE is, someone out there can benefit from it.

What is Canva?

I LOVE Canva. For as little as $12.99 a month, you can create any type of post in your style. This is where I create and edit all of my LTK RewardStyle posts because you can remove the background image of objects and images without affecting the quality.

Canva can be used to create Pinterest pins, Youtube templates, website banners, flyers, brochures, Instagram Posts, TikTok Reel Covers, and MUCH more. The options are endless!

Offer Services

If creating digital products isn’t your thing, consider offering services instead! You can offer services such as content writing, social media management, virtual assistance or even consulting services related to the topics of your blog posts.

Brand Sponsorships

If you have built up an engaged audience around your blog then working with brands could be an option for you too! I won’t lie, it takes hard work and dedication and that doesn’t come overnight. Be patient, I promise it is WORTH IT.

Brands often look for influencers who have an engaged following around similar topics so if this sounds like something you might be interested in then reach out directly or join influencer networks such as Influence Nation, Tribe, Aspire IQ, Cohley, etc where brands post sponsored opportunities regularly.

Some platforms require you to have a certain number of followers or page views per month in order to be join. Personally, working with brands is my FAVORITE part about blogging and influencing as it allows me to be creative and come up with my own marketing ideas that I ultimately “sell” to the brand.

Making money blogging doesn’t happen overnight but if you put in the work consistently then it can definitely become a viable source of income for you over time!

While there are many more ways bloggers make money online these days (think: podcasting!), these five simple strategies will help get you started down the right path towards earning some extra cash from blogging today!
